They bubbled up like fizzy drink
and when they kissed, they eclipsed the moon
and all too soon
they knew
GRAVITY ALWAYS WINS.

They moved at a pace, like eager teens,
and all the years that had been,
were like a strange forgotten dream.
And a kiss on the hand was worth ten on the hips
Boy were they nervous kissing those lips.

And pressures came and tested their mettle
pressure building like steam in a kettle.
They tried to take time to let it settle
But soon they discovered love is a battle

And life finds a way to unite or divide
where honesty is the only way to survive

They let their open hearts close
and in the photographs they pose
but anyone with eyes knows
all the smiles were just for show.

And the sex dried up like a December creek
and the way she spoke made him feel meek
and they ignored the truth of the love they seek
How could so much change in a week?

They parted ways, as they say
after too many mistimed moments
“This is our mistake and we must own it”
‘Maybe we’ll be friends?’

It takes more than words to help hearts mend
So this is the sad story of how love ends…
